Summary

Runaway has been entertaining adventure fans for over half a decade now, so it's sad to see that this instalment in the series, titled A Twist Of Fate, is to be the last we see of dynamic duo Brian Basco and Gina Timmings.

This action-packed finale will see players take control of Brian as they explore a storyline that is darker than previous outings. For the first time in the history of the series, players can also control Gina, girlfriend of Brian and key to the couple's success.

Although A Twist Of Fate follows on from the last Runaway title, the adventure is self-contained, meaning those new to the games will be able to jump in and play right away. And fans of the series will enjoy all the improvements that have been added to maintain the comical, madcap humour that it's known for.

Take the upgraded graphics, for instance. This episode of Runaway has been designed to look almost exactly like a 2D animated film, with cartoon animations and slick backdrops to set the scene. Characters are more expressive and more receptive to your actions.

Which is just as well because the interface has also had a tune-up, offering an inventory menu that allows you to inspect objects from various angles. Certain puzzles will need to be solved using this method. If you get stuck, there's a hint system that will guide you through the hard bits without holding your hand too much.
