Summary

EA Sports can always be relied upon to give us all the thrills and spills of the authentic sporting experience. Witness their wonderfully playable football titles, the feature-packed Cricket 2000, or the full-on, bang-up-to-date race car overkill that is F1 2000. Now EA Sports have cast their magic spell on another genre with the motorcycle frenzy that is Superbike 2000. My, they have been busy!

Superbike 2000 features the most powerful machines available in racing. Basically just an engine in a lightweight frame with a seat on top, whether you choose a Ducati or a Kawasaki, or any one of the crotch-rockets on offer, you too can pretend to be the nut and bolt-limbed Barry Sheen you always wanted to be, but never could, as you pootled around the estate astride your 50cc moped. Ah, the folly of youth.

There’s nothing foolish about this title, however. The game options are plentiful, with the ever-present Quick Race always a good place to start, just to get used to the handling. It shouldn’t be too long before you are ready for the competition proper, so enter yourself into the championship as soon as you feel confident, or alternatively, plump for the race weekend option, where qualification is necessary to compete in two races. The championship, however, is the real deal if you want to get the most out of Superbike 2000.

Get behind your chosen rider and see his bottom slide over the saddle on entering the corners! Get close to the screen in handlebar view and watch the scenery fly by! Don’t take a tumble and suffer from gravel rash! Truly, this is the most realistic motorcycling experience available, and the safest too. Plus you don’t have to wear a helmet and dress up in all that leather gear…unless you really want to.
