Gearbox Software was founded in January of 1999 by a group of experienced 3d game artists, designers and engineers in Dallas, TX. The developers at Gearbox Software have contributed to many of the most acclaimed franchises in interactive entertainment - including Civilization, Duke Nukem 3d, Quake, Half-Life, James Bond 007, Counter-Strike, Doom, Tony Hawks Pro Skater and Halo: Combat Evolved.
Gearbox Software is an award-winning developer of interactive entertainment responsible for best-selling titles on all major gaming platforms. By employing the industrys most talented people and using proven production methods Gearbox creates games that are technologically advanced, creative and above all, fun to play.
Gearbox Software LLC is based in Plano, Texas and currently employs over 30 people. The companys amazing growth and string of best-selling products can be attributed to a philosophical commitment to quality in both work environment and product development.
Gearbox 's first work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1999 title, "Half-Life: Opposing Force" (PC).
The company has been involved titles released on the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC, PSVita, Wii U, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, DS/DSi, PS2, PSP, Xbox and Mac. Of these, "Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30" (Xbox), "Halo: Combat Evolved" (PC), "Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway" (PC), "Aliens: Colonial Marines" (PC), "Borderlands 2" (PC) has been a best selling title.
The company's most recent involvement was on the 2019 release "Borderlands 3" (Xbox One).
