Summary

Ubisoft Quebec, which brought the DS version of Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs Strike, has now applied itself to the Wii-specific version.

The game sees the player in control of one of 18 different breeds of dinosaur including the Tyrannosaurus, the Stegosaurus, the Velociraptor, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus and the Baryonyx as they fight their way to the top of the dino-chain.

Gamers have to opportunity to customise their chosen dinosaur, choosing from a palette of twelve colours as well as a variety of patterns. The young player can also upgrade their creature's horns, bone plates, fins or feathers in order to make the most-likely-to-survive dino.

All this is in readiness for combat in tropical forest, desert and mountain environments.

Six additional dinosaurs can be unlocked when the player makes their way through the Domination Mode in which the player has to fight eight other monstrous lizards one at a time before confronting the final, massive, boss.

Once the gamer has beaten the six competing dinosaurs they are then available in the multi-player modes.

Fighting – and that's the basis of the game – centres on the three-round combat system that makes use of real-time actions using the Wii's remote and nunchuk. Gamers must be fast to react and making the most use of their chosen dinosaur's special abilities. Combat is not only about matching attack and defence with competing creatures. There are also natural disasters, such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, to contend with.

Multi-player enables up to four players to compete in three different multiplayer modes: Versus, Tournament and Tag Team.
