Summary

Silent Hunter has been a firm favourite with wannabe World War submarine captains around the world, but in this instalment the tables are turned. Rather than play as part of the Allied Forces, in Silent Hunter 5 you assume the role of a German U-boat captain as you aim to tackle the Brits and Americans across the Atlantic and Mediterranean.

Past games in the series allowed the player to view the aquatic action from above, looking down on moving subs like a benevolent war god. Here, you can take a tour of your own submarine in a first person viewpoint – a new feature for the Silent Hunter series. Now you can really 'be' the underwater commander, visiting every part of your U-boat and interacting with your crew.

As you immerse yourself in this new dimension, you will experience a change in how missions are structured in this game. With the objective-driven campaign mode you can take on operations in any order you like – the enemy Allied Forces will dynamically adjust their tactics as you follow through with yours.

A brand new user interface makes Silent Hunter 5 approachable and easy to jump into, for those who only want to dabble as a German captain for a laugh or two. For those that are serious about fighting the Allies an 'expert mode' can be accessed that provides all the necessary menus and information to sink yourself into.
