Summary

What better way to celebrate Team17’s genius series than put three of their finest in one bargain bundle? Ubi Soft has done just that and, though Worms completists may be furious, those who are wondering what all the fuss is about (are there still people out there who haven’t had some form of Worms?) can dive right in. Worms Battle Pack brings together Worms 2, Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party – something for everyone, then.

Is this really the kind of action that takes place beneath the topsoil in your back yard? You'd like to think so. But you have to ask yourself why would our wriggly little chums want to cause each other such damage? The obvious answer is to provide top-notch entertainment for those sick and twisted little monkeys amongst us. See, the world of Worms is all about destruction. These are turn-based strategy/combat games with their collective tongue lodged firmly in cheek. Conventional weapons can be found in the Worms’ arsenal, yes, but you’ll also find the likes of banana bombs, exploding sheep and, erm, old ladies too! Time is of the essence in these games – you have a limited amount of time to choose your target worm, select a weapon, and to make sure you get the trajectory right in the face of the wind speed/direction. Your team of four slimy soldiers are pretty tough though, and it’ll take two or three direct hits before you run out of steam.

There must be something in the water in WF5, it’s surely the only explanation for the inspired madness that is the Worms series of games, and we love ‘em.
