Summary

To tie in with the cinema release of Fox’s animated film Ice Age, Ubi Soft releases a one off video game tie-in for Game Boy Advance.

You must combine the skills of two of the infamous Ice Age crew - Manny and Sid - on a mission to find a home for baby human Roshan. Your journey will be long and full of nasty surprises. Beware the Game Over screen.

Primarily, Ice Age is something of a platform affair. Players are required to perform the usual run, jump and duck antics that most games of this type feature, as they plough through many dangerous levels. There are moments when you will find yourself up against hordes of chilling bad dudes, and there are times when you must use a little thought to solve mind-bending puzzles. The challenge is varied, and controlling two unique characters gives players the opportunity to experiment with several playing styles.

There are 10 completely different locations to tackle that include many familiar scenes from the big screen version such as giant rivers, snowscapes, deep caverns and volcanoes. But friendly creatures such as Scrats, Stunks and Beavers will make the task a little easier. Just do your best to avoid sabre-tooth tigers, rhinos and bees and you’ll be fine.

Ice Age is definitely one for the kids. It includes amusing cut scenes, intuitive controls and compelling gameplay, making this handheld port of the popular franchise great fun.
