Summary

One of 2001's overlooked cinema releases, Driven hasn’t just made an appearance on the big screen, it's also seen a console release of the same name. But does it stand out from the rest of the crowd as a spectacular racing game on a par with the likes of Gran Turismo 3?

Pitted against their arch-rivals, Beau Brandenburg and Max Manley, gamers will fight for survival. Do you have what it takes to enter 'the zone' and then push on to the 'ragged edge'? Will you snatch victory from the others and take your place on the champion's podium?

As a video game spinoff of a cinema release, Driven is admirable. Sly Stallone has lent his voice talents in a successful bid to make Driven for PS2 an authentic experience. As for the rest of the game? Well it’s pretty much a standard 3D racing affair.

The PS2 version of the game is respectable with regards to visuals, and easily competes with its GameCube counterpart. Accompanied by accurately modelled cars and plenty of high octane action, Driven offers everything you might expect from an F1 simulation, with a loose storyline to boot. There are plenty of courses and challenges, and although we can't say Driven is the best game in its field, it's still worth a look.
