Summary

Ubi Soft’s Battle Realms, developed by Liquid Entertainment, is an all-new real-time strategy game based upon a unique fantasyland. Although one of many games in the genre, Battle Realms is set to stand out as one of the greatest.

After seven years of exile, Kenji has returned only to discover his homeland remains in ruins. But his following courses of action are uncertain. A question remains. Will he contain his resentment and liberate his land, or will he fall to the dark side and conquer the land as his father did many years ago? Intrigued? Absolutely.

As you begin your quest, you will soon uncover a visually wondrous game, populated with fantastic creatures and some of the most lush environments imaginable. Whether you’re investigating deep dungeons or beautiful forests, there’s plenty of eye candy to go around.

Not too far into the game, and you are able to acquire further team members and train them to become accomplished warriors. You can develop their skills to suit a variety of character classes that include Samurai, Bandits and Canoneers.

As you move from one stage of the game to the next, you will encounter many foes that often attack in great numbers. More often than not, you will be outnumbered, and so you must use your strongest attacks and spells to succeed. Success often results in a series of power ups, role-playing-style, that will enable the player to learn further combat techniques.

There’s a lot of hacking and slashing to be done in Battle Realms, but it’s all done in the best possible taste. It’s thoroughly addictive and well worth more than a few hours of your life.
