Summary

Driving around in a Mini has never been so much fun as in Top Gear Daredevil on the PlayStation 2. Move over Crazy Taxi, this is Kemco’s answer to driving around famous cities while being completely reckless.

The aim of Top Gear Daredevil is to collect a set amount of daredevil tokens within a preset time limit. These tokens are scattered about in different locations depending on the city and the specific mission. For example you might have to collect 20 out of 25 tokens and make it back to end zone within 60 seconds. Luckily, certain tokens are blue and they give you a few extra precious seconds. There are also nitro icons that give you a temporary speed boost. Using your map is essential for completing a level because you can see where the tokens are located and plan an effective route.

On each level there are a number of hidden bonuses that you can find. It is important to be thorough and discover these icons because these bonuses unlock new faster cars and secret levels.

The gameplay is simplistic and it will not take you very long to get to grips with it. The early cars that you have to drive are not the best handling machines you will ever come across but later cars improve the driving situation. Graphically, Top Gear Daredevil looks very impressive. There is very little pop-up and the background textures are stunningly realistic. The audio is also actually worth listening to, a pleasant change in video game land.

Overall, Top Gear Daredevil is visually pretty, easy game that will appeal to a large number of people.
