Summary

Sequel to Top Gear Rally, this game is more of an expansion of it’s original than an entirely new game.

Graphics are of a standard format, however there is a distinct presence of fogging. As a rally title, races take place both off-road and on-road in a single route with three sections. Cars can be sorely wounded through reckless driving techniques influencing the outcome of the race. As with any rally game, time is of the essence here, not position. Instead of moolah being spent on repairing damaged parts, time is added to your race, making it possible to lose in the garage. So drive carefully you twit!

As more races are won and you eventually have cash of an American nature, you are permitted to buy new parts for your sad machine, or preferably, buy a new car.

As rally titles generally consist of one section of unique track, there is a noticeable use of repeated track sections, forcing you to race around the same corner twice. Very realistic!

TG Rally 2’s saving grace has got to be its difficulty. This game can be quite tough, due to the handling mechanics. However, handling can be influenced through the use of altered steering or transmission. But lets face it, how many plonkers would want a car in manual that doesn’t steer?
