Summary
Formula 1 2000 for the PC brings all the fast paced action bang up to date. This is the year that brings America back into the swing of things with the Indianapolis Grand Prix. This is also the debut year of the Jaguar Racing team who took over Steward Ford. Some of the main changes for this season is no more computer assisted starts and the simplification of electronically controlled systems. So you can expect more people stalling on the start line as the pressure rests with the driver.
The level of detail in this game is amazing and does such a convincing job of putting you into the cockpit. You can choose from your favourite teams and drivers such as Mika Hakkinen, Mclaren and Michael Schumacher from Ferrari. Whose turn is it to win the world championship? It’s up to you and your driving skill but beware it’s a long season and anything can happen.
F1 2000 is fully customisable giving you the option of how nice it looks or runs and how much help you need driving. If you turn all the computer assistance off you’re in for one challenging and realistic game that will almost take forever to master. On the other hand, this can be a fast, fun, arcade style racing game, it’s your call. As you get progressively better at this game the harder it becomes. By getting a corner right, you carry more speed into the next and that makes it trickier.
The presentation and music in F1 2000 is top class. With music from the band Leftfield, it just can’t get any better. One of the best aspects of this game has to be the eight-player Local Area Network option. If you have the chance to play games in the office (after hours, of course) then this will set the competitive fire burning. F1 2000 is a polished game of an exciting sport and it shows.
