Summary

In light of the recent past, it seems that some of TV’s greatest cartoons were from the late eighties. There was Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, but more importantly, Inspector Gadget. After a great period of absence the thick-minded super hero has made a return in human form, just for cinema goers. To tie in with the release of the film is the expected video game incarnation, Inspector Gadget for Game Boy Color.

While Inspector Gadget remains a platform game of relatively simple proportions, it is at least nice to look at, with surprisingly detailed visuals. As you begin playing a full game of Inspector Gadget, you will quickly learn that there is a little more to this game than meets the eye. As well as jumping across deviously located platforms you must also take control of his unknown sidekick daughter and dog, Penny and Brains, if you are progress past the first level of the game. Each of the three players have their own abilities and areas accessible only to them, although it goes without saying that Gadget himself has the most expansive library of special abilities.

There is a lot to do here, and there are plenty of areas that will have you banging your head against a brick wall, such is the challenge of this game. A great game for retro cartoon fans that will now be old enough to take on the evil Dr. Claw.
