Summary

The original release of Metal Gear on Nintendo’s NES put forward the suggestion of a newly created genre. Once established, not too long ago, the genre of stealth soon became one of the most popular around. Fortunately, this genre is one yet to be exhausted by developers, and there is still room for improvement and innovation. Delving into the unknown with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, is Red Storm.

Already released on PC, PlayStation and Nintendo 64, this new GameBoy Color version is set to be quite different from its advanced counterparts. Because of the handheld’s limitations, this instalment of the series takes place in one of two points of view. You can choose from top-down, or first-person. Combining both action and strategy elements of play, Rainbow Six includes a number weapons the strategically hunt down your enemy, including night vision goggles, and even a sniper rifle, allowing you to pick off targets from a distance.

As a single piece of software, Tom Clancy fulfils the criteria for a number of genres, and as such, should reach a wider audience.
