Summary

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a curious beast. On one level it's a role-playing adventure that has you romping across medieval Europe. On another, it's the closest thing to a Middle Ages sim that you're likely to come across. With this Royal Edition, you not only get the world of the base game to explore, you also get a host of DLC including Treasures of the Past; From The Ashes; The Amorous Adventures of bold Sir Hans Capon; Band of Bastards; A Woman s Lot.

The year is 1403. The region is Bohemia in the heart of Europe, a land rich in culture and silver, not to mention huge great castles. The game sets you down in a true(ish) story in which the king is dead and his eldest son, Wenceslas IV, has taken the throne. Not happy about this, his brother Sigismund imprisons Wenceslas and storms the country. You play as the son of a blacksmith, sole survivor of your town after Sigismund's armies raze it. You swear vengeance, and an epic adventure begins.

Don't think you're going to progress straight from angry kid to army-beating hero, though. Realism is the order of the day here, and so much detail has been built into Kingdom Come: Deliverance that it's not unfair to call it a medieval life sim. The AI around you is rich in detail and intelligence. You can use this to your advantage, manipulating the world around you to meet your ends. Any given situation might be susceptible to your charm and charisma, or it might need the skillful application of brute force with the game's nerdily deep combat system.

Whatever you choose, however, you're in for a deep historical adventure.
