Summary

Dangerous Driving is, in a lot of ways, a game from an alternate universe where the development of the Burnout series didn't mysteriously stop after Paradise. Or, more accurately, it might be from an alternate timeline that branched off somewhere after Burnout 3 or 4 - after takedowns became a thing but before the open world became a thing.

To back up a little, Dangerous Driving basically does what it says on the tin - it's a racing game in which doing all the things you would never do on a real road start to pay off. It's very arcade-y in style - you boost and drift your way around the tracks and enjoy the feeling that you're stuck to the track with special gravity tires. Don't take that arcade-yness to mean that it's easy, though. The speeds you're driving at are formidable and the AI is vicious. This is a game that can and will nail you hard. Plus, there's Dangerous Driving's special trick.

Like the later Burnout games, you can take out opponent cars. The catch is that the debris you create will stick around for subsequent laps, creating new hazards on already-lethal tracks. That might not sound like a huge thing, but when your instinct is to knock out every other car in sight on the corners but doing so turns hard corners deadly, you have some thinking to do at some very high speeds.

This wild card plays out differently across a host of different modes, but each and every one of them will present you with a new way of riding the razor's edge between death and glory.
