Summary

The fate of the world isn't at stake and you don't have to save the city from a horde of the undead, but by putting you in the role of a toddler Among the Sleep has you facing up to a world that feels very big and very scary. And the stakes might as well be the whole world, because your mum is missing and when you're two that's pretty much the world right there. Among the Sleep is a survival horror game that makes you utterly powerless and warps the world around you, and that's what makes it unique.

The game is pretty serious about driving home the fact that you're a toddler - the camera is close to the ground and everything in your immediate environment looms extremely large. In your search for your mum (and with the occasional help of a talking teddy bear that's creepier than it ought to be) you'll move from looming suburban environments to surreal nightmare worlds conjured from phantom playgrounds and drowned studies.

This is a game that saves up its monsters, but when they loom you'll feel the limitations of your toddler body as you stumble and topple while you try to remain out of sight.

Every detail of Among the Sleep is designed to conjure a world seen from the perspective of a two year old, and it's all the scarier for it.
