This is the Police - Switch

At first glance, This is The Police is an odd title. Simulation games are certainly nothing new, but it's not often that they weave a narrative into their various tasks and activities.

You play as Police Chief Jack Boyd, an old timer on his way to retirement. With the end of his career in sight he wants nothing more than to rake in as much cash during his last days on the force as possible - ideally a cool $500K to see him through his sunset years. Of course, running a police force is no mean task. Neither is earning half a million dollars. How you do both is up to you...

You'll perform a number of duties. On the one hand, you'll be managing your force of officers and detectives, keeping an eye on stats such as rank, energy and professionalism while watching out for personality traits such as alcoholism or laziness. As threats roll in you'll need to react quickly, and even provide on the spot guidance to responding personnel.

There's also some more hands-on policing to be dealt with. Players are presented with ongoing investigations in which you'll need to assign detectives and eventually put together the clues to nail the perp.

But, if sticking to the straight and narrow doesn't seem like the best way to earn that cool half mill, there's always the option of working with the mafia...
