Summary

It's time for more tactical hack 'n' slash action on a massive scale! This Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends: Complete Edition does what it says on the tin, packing the original DW8 and the Xtreme Legends expansion, launching simultaneously on PS3, into one box.

Dynasty Warriors 8 brought a fair number of new goodies to the table. It once again brought the stories of the kingdoms Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin (mixed up with the usual historical military and political figures) to our screens, but packed in a fair amount more besides. Characters' move sets were diversified, 'Weapon Affinity' was brought in to further work on strengths and weaknesses, 'What if?' mode challenged players with story pathways that diverged from history and 'Free Mode' made a welcome return.

You'd think that would be enough for the committed Dynasty Warriors fan, but to make absolutely sure Tecmo Koei is also gracing our screens with the expansion, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends.

On the campaign front, Xtreme Legends brings fresh new episodes which add to and build on the story of Dynasty Warriors 8. Stepping into the spotlight for this outing is the mighty warrior Lu Bu.

There are also five new characters available: Chen Gong, Fa Zheng, Lu Lingqi, Yu Jin, and Zhu Ran. That brings the total number of playeable characters up to a massive 82.

Also included are more 'What if' style scenarios that alter plotlines of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story, an expansion of 'Ambition Mode' and the ever-popular 'Challenge Mode'. And, for the really hardcore Dynasty Warriors fan, there are enhancements to Free Mode that include the availability of the 'Ultimate' difficulty level.

So, while Dynasty Warriors 8 has more than it's fair share of content, there's always room for a little extra.
