Summary

With the Wii U still a relatively fresh addition to the world's living rooms, a new Wario game is, of course, due. Rather than going for an extension of the classic WarioWare series as everyone was expecting, though, Nintendo has opted to present us with Game & Wario. Don't worry - it's still a collection of mini-games - it's just that we get 16 meatier offerings rather than the plethora you might expect from WarioWare, all of them being controlled exclusively by the Gamepad.

That means, of course, that Game & Wario is precisely as enticing as the sum of its parts. Included, for example, is Arrow. This involves using the Gamepad as a bow to fire arrows at the enemies descending down your screen. Or there's Design, in which players have to use the touchscreen to follow instructions and draw lines, angles and shapes, being judged based on their quality. Or why not try Kung-Fu, a vertical platformer using the pad?

Pushing the Gamepad's functionality a little further is Shutter, which challenges players to use the pad as a camera, snapping pictures of certain on-screen characters. Things get changed up as you progress, forcing you to do things such as take pictures from a moving train.

It wouldn't be a Wario party game without a bit of multiplayer, of course. Four of the games are designed specifically for multiplayer, using the Gamepad in a pass-around manner.

Game & Wario is a bizarre and fun way to really see what can be done with the Wii U's Gamepad.
