Summary
Magicka is an action-adventure game which is based on Norse mythology. It puts the player into the role of a wizard from a sacred order. He (or she) is given a challenge of completing quests with the ultimate goal of defeating an evil sorcerer.
The Sorcerer has attacked the world of the Good, using his magic to create vile minions and other creatures to do his will.
Magicka Plus also provides the gamer with modules previously only available as DLC. This includes Vietnam - yes, players actually do take magic and spell casting to the South Eastern Asian theatre of war in the 1960s.
There's Wizard's Survival Kit, which adds a Wizard's hat, a sharp sword, a +1 Staff and a new magic spell, the Meteor Shower, which can be used to call down burning rocks to the faces of foes.
Also included is Marshland, which provides the player with a haunted marsh involving and hordes of the undead to fight plus an underground cavern where the players fight goblins, trolls and dwarves.
Gameplay sees players combining elements of fire, water, wind and earth to create devastating spells to wreak havoc and devastation on the minions of the dark side. Players can team up with friends online to fight through a campaign mode. Up to four players can play at once.
In Adventure mode players make their ways through three different levels including from the lush forests, mountain valleys and the frozen halls of the Mountain King.
The hardcore challenge modes need to be unlocked but, as the name suggests, offer bigger challenges as players fight off waves of enemies to earn their place on local and online leaderboards.
