Summary

The beauty of the original Theatre of War game was its cinematic approach to tactical World War II simulations. On a base level you could control all of the combat from a traditional top-down perspective, but zoom all the way down to the battlefield and you will be able to see your actions unfold from multiple camera angles. It's almost like being there yourself.

This sequel takes you to the Battle of Kursk, which took place in 1943. The conflict lasted for forty-nine days, between 5th July and 23rd August, and was one of the pivotal battles that took place in the Second World War. You get to see how the Red Army managed to see off the last Eastern offensive set by the Germans – a victory that set the Soviets up for a lasting strategic advantage.

Two historical campaigns are ready for you to master, totalling 18 missions in which to follow or change the course of history. An unlimited number of customisable battles can be created with ease, offering limitless replay value. Over 60 Soviet, German and allied units from the US and Britain can be controlled, and as you can expect there's detailed simulation of everything that happens on the battlefield.

If you want to carve your own history, get involved with a team multiplayer mode for up to eight players with reinforcement, artillery barrages and air strikes available to take advantage of.
