Summary

With nitro and Paradox Interactive's Commander: Conquest of the Americas, you can now pretend to be Russell Crowe in Master & Commander as you control a wide variety of European nations exploring the seas to conquer the New World. Because of the setting and the nature of the game, Commander has taken the best parts of a trading and strategy game to create a unique experience that matches that of history.

As the commander of your own vessel, you'll have four advisors that will attempt to guide you in the right direction - be it in navigation, trade or combat. Of course, like any in-game advisors they will be watching you like a hawk, and if you screw up they'll be the first to hold you to account. There's also the ship's crew to think about as well, so act your role out responsibly.

Although the advisers can seem like a right pain at times, it actually serves to help the flow of gameplay. You can change focus from one target or goal to another, even within the same campaign, and take detours when taking on a specific challenge.

Of course, once you've arrived at your destination, the fun in forming your very own empire begins. Manage resources, production, the military and more as your colonies develop into cities and formidable opponents to any of the other six European factions that might try to rain on your parade. Command ships in a real time strategy fashion or in real-time as you fend off attacks from enemy nations, or even bloodthirsty pirates!
