Summary

Sakura Wars has always been a popular strategy combat game in Japan, largely because it features robot mechs beating the wotsits out of each other. That, and it always comes nicely presented with an anime-esque graphical style and storyline. But mostly because of the robots. And now fans of the series will get to enjoy disassembling robot giants on the Wii, with Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love.

As you would expect, this iteration sports an involved story that would be fit for some of the lengthier RPGs out there. But unlike most role-playing games, the destinies of the characters in Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love has not yet been determined. You decide what happens with your actions and play style. Interacting with different characters will alter story content and ultimately, the final outcome.

Battling occurs in two stages – on ground and in the sky. In both instances, you're rocking huge mechanised vehicles, that can transform from two-legged walkers into fighter jets during various phases of play. Tactics, moves and effectiveness of weapons will change the second you transform, so you have to take note of this when you're in combat against harder foes.

Do you have what it takes to write your own destiny?
