Summary

What if there was a better way to learn about history than in the classroom? Sure, hearing all the anecdotes from your tutor can be interesting, but no doubt it would be better to have something that's a bit more interactive. The Making History series provides players with an insight into the events that took place in ages past, all in the guise of a fun strategy game.

This second title in the series, War of the World, focuses on World War II, with an opportunity to lead a nation and recreate history – or try to rewrite it. Along the way you'll learn about the processes in factories and shipyards on the home front and participate in global battles with enemy nations.

Through playing Making History: War of the World, historian Niall Ferguson helps show players how the economy of each country was just as important to the outcome of wars as combat efficiency was. Domestic and international rivalries will occur during the game, with choices affecting diplomatic reputations and status in the world.

A single-player mode offers a huge campaign where one can learn how wars really are organised, while the game also contains a multiplayer mode where opponents can discover who is the best war strategist.
