Summary

There aren't many manga comics that stand the test of time in the West. Bleach is an example of a Japanese comic book that is coming into its own outside of Japan, and like Naruto before it has created something of a cult following. This game, on the Nintendo DS, features an exclusive spin-off story created under the supervision of Kubo, the author and creator of the series.

As such, Bleach: The 3rd Phantom is a strategy RPG that offers an entirely new side to the rich storyline, focusing around the Soul Reaper twins before the events that take place in the anime. As Fujimaru Kudo and Matsuri Kudo, you get two different gameplay experiences that also offer the chance to work co-operatively for ultimate attacks.

The 3rd Phantom fuses 3D graphics with 2D animation – see your favourite characters on the battlefield in a 3D isometric view, strategically place them so they will get the advantage over the enemy, and then watch as an animé cutscene displays your attack. With over fifty characters to assign to your team of eight Soul Reapers, there's plenty of planning and strategy to go around.

Once you're done with the main quest, you get a bunch of unlocked goodies too – there's also added fun in the multi-player Wireless Mode, which lets two players pit their armies against one another.
