Summary

The Patrician series has come a long way since its Amiga and Atari ST debut in 1992. It may have been seven years since the last iteration, but Patrician IV shows that the strategy simulation franchise is still very much alive. Developed by Gaming Minds Studios – a company created with members of the team behind the very first title – this promises to build upon the solid reputation of its predecessors and take it to the next level.

As a young merchant in the area of the Baltic and North Sea during the late Middle Ages, you begin your journey as a small stall trader and must rise through the merchant ranks to become the greatest seller in all of Europe. The better you deal trade, the more fame and wealth you get, allowing you to not only expand your market empire but also influence the shape of your surroundings - from towns and small villages to huge capital cities.

A supple and demand-driven economy means you have to hunt for the best quality goods, and react to what people want from your stalls and services. Soon, you'll have to think big and head out to the high seas in order to form trading routes with other Hanseatic cities. Competing interests, political turmoil, disease, weather conditions, piracy and royalty can all affect your profits.

Compete against eight computer-controlled rival merchants to rise to the top of the Hanseatic League, in this strategy simulation that focuses on a area of history far less travelled.
