Summary

You probably won't be at all surprised to find that Night at the Museum 2 has its own video game. The capers of Ben Stiller (Larry Daley, for our purposes) as he careens around a museum populated by historical figures is the stuff good family games are made of. So it is that we get Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.

Larry has discovered that many of his favourite exhibits from the New York's Museum of Natural History – which include some of his best pals – have been shipped off to the archives at the Smithsonian. That's bad news, but it's not world-ending stuff. Except... Larry receives a call for help from Jedediah, the miniature cowboy, telling him that Kahmunrah and a triad of heinous (and rather notorious) henchmen - namely Ivan the Terrible, Napoleon and Al Capone – are taking over the museum with an eye toward the entire world.

Gameplay is a mix of platforming and puzzle-solving that sees Larry, equipped with his handy flashlight and keychain (yes, that's 'keychain' – Larry's American) making his way around stages ranging from the Federal Archives to the National Air and Space Museum to the Lincoln Memorial as he tries to stop the diabolical plot.

Players can ride a T-Rex skeleton, jump in the Lunar Lander, and climb into the cockpit of the Pitcairn Autogyro, the aircraft belonging to his new pal Amelia Earhart. As they go about their tasks, players will need to gather up pieces of the Magic Tablet that's at the heart of it all to unlock mini-games and museum trivia!
