Summary

Alice: Madness Returns is the continuation of the dark and twisted take on the classic tale by American McGee. Here, you’ll not only get to explore the corrupted and shattered version of Wonderland once again as Alice, but you’ll also get to find out more about the heroine’s past.

And it ain’t pretty - haunted memories batter her tortured psyche every step of the way, and these manifest themselves in the game as high-detailed and crooked worlds, strange and bizarre characters and epic battles with sinister villains. You’ll need to grab a hold of any kind of deadly weapon that comes to hand in order to defend yourself.

But what of the story itself? Ten years after the conclusion of the first game, Alice is still trying to overcome the fact that her family was lost in a fire. Institutionalised, she now has the care of a psychiatrist who attempts to rid her mind of all those dark thoughts and nightmares she keeps having.

Floating inbetween London and her escapist Wonderland state, Alice vows to uncover the truth behind what really happened to her family - and all kinds of intensely dark events unravel that prevent her from doing so. A Disney-esque romp, this is certainly not.
