Summary

Majesco's Cooking Mama games for Wii and DS were a worldwide sensation. That's an achievement they aim to imitate with their new Gardening game, Gardening Mama - one of the world's first gardening games. The Cooking all done, the player heads out into the garden to turn a arid patch of earth into a fertile cornucopia of flowers, fruits and vegetables.

In the same way that Cooking Mama broke the cooking process down and demystified it, Gardening Mama simplifies the gardening process and makes it fun at the same time.

Using the DS Stylus as a trowel, players can dig the earth and sew their plants. Then, using the stylus as a hose they must water and fertilise them to make them grow. Once they are growing, it's important to prune them, and to rid them of pests to make them as healthy and strong as possible. Making your plants grow strong requires constant attention, so be careful to choose well and don't plant too many, or you'll have your hands full as well as your garden.

As you become successful at basic gardening activities, new plants will become available for you to cultivate, and as you progress through the game other garden items such as furniture will be unlocked to help you create your own little agrarian paradise.

DS gamers can play against their friends with just a single cartridge, and multi-player mode is enabled right from the get go, without having to complete any tasks in single player mode first.

As with Cooking Mama before it, Gardening Mama has delightful graphics and superb sound. Cooking Mama was aimed at younger players, but appealed to players of all ages - Gardening Mama just might do the same.
