Summary

If you've been looking for an RPG that's a little out of the ordinary, then... well, Eternal Sonata probably won't be for you. It's actually a LOT out of the ordinary.

On his deathbed, the famous composer Chopin finds himself drifting between this life and the next. Through his fevered dreams, he comes across a young girl facing an extremely unpleasant destiny and a boy who's determined to save her. It's through these dreams that the player will journey in this tale of not only good and evil, but also love and betrayal.

Making the most of the dreamscape the story inhabits, Eternal Sonata presents a world that is a rich and imaginative tapestry of next-gen splendour.

The musical connection isn't just for show, either. Players will encounter Jazz, Polka, Salsa, Allegretto, Beat and others as they join the fight against the evil Count Waltz. Players will also find a rich soundtrack featuring the work of Chopin, along with little touches such as the ability to play scraps of music to befriend other characters. Players will also find that - rather than use tedious loading screens - the developers have used information about the life of Chopin to punctuate the game.

If you're looking to step beyond the traditional Japanese RPG, Eternal Sonata is probably playing your tune.
