Summary

Civilization IV is the ultimate strategy game offering players the chance to lead their chosen nation from the dawn of man through the space age and become the greatest ruler the world has ever known. The arrival of Civilization IV Complete heralds the end of your dull, drab real life (possibly) and the dawning of a new era, and all for around 25 notes.

In the turn-based strategy to end all turn-based strategy, you choose from one of 18 tribes. Each of the tribes has its own characteristics, with some exhibiting peaceful tendencies, while others are veritable warmongers. Start off scratching at the dirt with sticks and stones and advance headlong towards mastery of terrifying modern weapons like H-bombs, helicopters and aircraft carriers, proceeding of course via bows and arrows, swords, muskets and warships. The AI of the civilizations you're up against has been improved oon previous Civ games, and as time progresses, you'll come up against some of history's most famous rulers. Boring micromanagement has been minimised to make the game more exciting, but you'll still uncover a wealth of subtlety. Not only can you expand by use of force, as ever you'll be able to use diplomacy and a web of alliances to safeguard your interests. You'll also have more control over your country's religion and form of government than ever before.

Warlords was the first expansion pack for Civ IV and focuses on some of history's greatest military leaders. It presents six different scenarios, giving gamers the chance to change the course of history with the help of their new powerful warlord unit. The new scenarios include Chinese Unification (350 BC), Peloponnesian Wars (430 BC), Alexander's Conquests (330 BC), Rise of Rome (300 BC), Vikings (800 AD) and Genghis Khan (1206 AD). There are many new resources and improvements presented throughout the scenarios. Warlords includes new civilisations, leaders, units and wonders that will offer various ways for players to expand their civilisation's military power as they strive for world domination.

The Beyond the Sword expansion features 12 diverse new scenarios for God wannabes to sink their teeth into. The new scenarios bear the authentic stamp of 'because you demanded it', with members of the Civilization fan community having contributed to its creation. Also included in the expansion are ten new civilisations, 16 new leaders and five new wonders for players to toy with in their quest for godliness.
