Summary

Set in the Caribbean seas of the 16th Century, Black Buccaneer is a swashbuckling, action-packed adventure with a hint of voodoo thrown in for good measure. Gamers can choose to play as either a young pirate named Francis Blade or a ghoulish demon known as the Black Buccaneer. It must be remembered when choosing who to control, that both characters have different fighting skills and powers that best suit certain situations.

The ghoulish story begins when our hero, the young pirate Francis Blade is caught in a vicious storm on his way to the new world. This leaves him shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Hearing eerie noises from the depths of the jungle, Francis seeks shelter in a cave. It is here that Francis discovers a strange amulet in the shape of a skull, that grants him the fearsome magic powers of the macabre Black Buccaneer (a cursed pirate with mighty voodoo powers), who, as we mentioned before, is the game's other playable character. With the help of these powers, Blade finds out about a legendary pirate treasure known as the gold of the martyred souls. Both Francis and the Black Buccaneer forge a supernatural alliance and set out to find this mysterious treasure.

Exciting, non-linear gameplay will lead gamers through nine different worlds with 26 demanding levels, each full to the brim with deadly traps and tricky puzzles. The real-time 3D graphics in Black Buccaneer create a very special ambience. This is thanks to various light and shadow effects that turn the beautiful beaches of the 18 real Caribbean locations used in the game into the most hideous voodoo hellholes imaginable.
