Summary

Tony Hawk's skateboarding games usually need no introduction - the series is already up to version eight, and this is the second outing on the PSP. But THP8 blows the doors off with an all-new game engine re-built from the ground up. The result is an improved physics engine - and a game that simply feels better then all the previous versions.

To go with the new game engine there's new (but familiar) scenery (as you might expect) and an updated gameplay mechanic, designed to make the game more free-flowing, while maintaining the challenge for new players and seasoned shredders alike. The result is simply the best Tony Hawk game yet! And that's saying something - because each previous version has been a smash hit.

In addition to the general makeover - THP8 has a new spot challenge system that enables you to open up new sections of the game world as you progress through the game. These challenges are available throughout the game and can be played at any time, and in any order, you choose. Each challenge has three skill levels, so you can come back and try them again as you develop mad skillz.

When not taking challenges, you can session the largest and best gameworld in any Tony Hawk game yet. And when you're airborne, you can enjoy two new modes: Focus mode and Nail the Trick. Focus mode just slows down the action to let you hit your landing just right - a sort of skating bullet time. But nail the trick mode put the board at the control of your hands in almost exactly the same way that a real skater has control with his feet. Each hand acts inidvidually on the front and rear of the board, enabling you to create unique signature tricks never seen or tried before.
