Summary

There's no prize for guessing what the aim of the name of the game is with Custom Robo Arena. It's a case of components a-go-go and spanners at the ready as you are charged with building and customising your own robot and going up against like-minded battlers. Players follow the dreams of a young boy who aspires to winning the CustomRobo Championship and fighting Robo-crime by joining the police force. With assistance from his new friend Liv, our hero could become an expert Robo Fighter.

Players must take up their stylus and complete challenges and enter into competitions to unlock all the essential parts to make the best robot. These parts consist of body, pod, gun, legs and bombs. That's where the 'Custom' part comes in, Sherlock.

From here on in, players have thousands of options regarding their robot's speed, toughness and durability. All battles are fought in lovingly-rendered 3D, environments that teem with obstacles to navigate and utilise. During the solo flyer Battle Mode, players set out to become the ultimate Robo Commander champion, moving their robot with the D-pad and using the buttons to destroy opponents with bombs and gunfire. The unlockable Robocade is an area where players can battle against a freely customisable opponent as well as take part in arcade-style battles to increase their scores.

There is also a host of multiplayer modes courtesy of the Nintendo Wi-Fi facility, which accommodates friends and rival codes, and also battles with randomly-selected opponents.
