Summary

Who could forget the popular television series starring Don Johnson from the 1980s that put Miami firmly on the map again, and made pastel colours a fashion must. A big money remake was always on the cards, especially so after the recent success of Charlie's Angels and Starsky and Hutch. Unfortunately, the game in question is not based on the memorable television program, but the 2006 movie of the same name starring Colin Farrel and Jamie Foxx.

In Miami Vice: The Game (MVTG), gamers will find themselves following a storyline set in present day Miami just before the events of the film. You can select to play as either Crockett (Colin Farrel) or Tubbs (Jamie Foxx). It is also possible to team up with a friend using the PSP's wireless function to play each mission co-operatively. MVTG is designed exclusively for the PSP, with highly detailed environments, cutting-edge motion capture and lighting effects inspired by the film.

The storyline behind the game sees Crockett and Tubbs going undercover to bring down a drugs ring. There is a reputation building dynamic to the game, where you must impress the criminal underworld and establish your 'rep' as a major player in the narcotics world. You can do this through trading contraband and aggressively interacting with drug barons. Every mission you complete will add to your 'rep', but it's really about doing it in style. As your 'rep' increases, new aspects of the storyline and game play will open up. Your chosen character will also have the ability to hack into computers, unlocking sensitive information, such as security codes and locations that will ultimately help you on your mission, in the process.

There is an impressive array of weaponry at your disposal in MVTG that no doubt will help in your quest against the drug barons. As well as car chases there is also the opportunity to experience high-speed boat chases through Miami's many dangerous waterways, while engaging in boat-to-boat shootouts.
