Summary

It’s back! The first Suffering game followed its hapless protagonist, Torque, as he tried to escape a demonic prison. This second game, promised to be more terrifying than the last in every way, follows the mentally troubled hero as he returns at last to his home city of Baltimore. But he finds no relief here from the nightmares that continue to haunt him, as he finds his hometown subject to the same chilling terrors that tormented him in the carnate prison.

Before, Torque was always on the verge of insanity, and we’re sad to say that he has not yet overcome his condition. In fact, giving in to the numbing relief of madness may be the only way to survive this adventure. He is given his instructions by the shadowy Blackmore, as he shoots and fights his way to uncovering why he has so little control over his deteriorating mental condition.

It’s difficult to tell what is more terrifying – the world inside Torque’s troubled mind or the one outside his body. Is one connected to the other? Explore the both worlds, through a series of flashbacks, or walking the slum streets, where gun crime, squalor and misery thrive. Decisions that you make affect the path of the story, and each action you make is rated either as good or evil. This in turn affects your ‘inner demon’, and as the demon within you grows, so can your powers, until you finally unleash them. It’s clear that Torque is in no position to sanely judge what is going on around him, what is real and what is not. But it’s equally clear that the streets of Baltimore are not what they once were, and that Torque can play a part in saving the people of the slums. The game’s journey, if you can bear it, is exploring both yourself and your surroundings.
