Summary

2002 saw the release by Microsoft of Turbine’s Asheron’s Call 2, the long awaited MMORPG sequel. The game returned thousands of players around the world to a changed land in which they had to reclaim their homeland. Now the even more long-awaited first expansion pack is to be released, subtitled ‘Legions’.

The fictional world of Dereth expands by 30% when the new continent of Knorr is discovered – have you got the Know-how to uncover the secrets of the mystical (and playable!) Empyrean race? As usual, a dark and menacing force for evil threatens all the inhabitants of Dereth. Players must help the Empyreans to rebuild their shattered civilisation. Skill building MMORPG fans will rejoice that there are 300 new skills and abilities available to master. Three new prestige classes have been added above what was possible in the original to offer experienced players a further direction to develop in. The upgraded game engine also features the ability to chain different skill attacks together to deepen combat, and the new, unexplored continent of Knorr is the home to 10 new terrifying monsters. 20 new dungeons take you into the world of the Olthoi Queen. There are more than 100 new quests to tackle, and more than 40 new weapons are available for use by the various races.

Added to that, players who preorder the game will receive a drop card giving them access to an all-new race, the Drudges, and a CD containing music mp3s and artwork. The legions of fans of Asheron 2 are truly being spoilt by Codemasters’ release of the world-expanding Asheron’s Call 2: Legions.
