Summary

Accompanying the release by Codemasters of the long awaited expansion pack for Asheron’s Call 2, comes this equally timely update to the original MMORPG, Asheron’s Call. Set before the ‘devastation’ that sets up events for the second game in the series, Throne of Destiny sees the land of Dereth threatened by the evil race of Viamontians. The graphics and engine of the 1998 genre classic have been completely overhauled and beautified for this (5000 repainted textures and DirectX 9 compatibility), the second expansion pack for the hit title. The user interface has also been totally re-jigged, not just to facilitate features in this upgrade but also those in upgrades yet to come. As well as boring good characters, you can play as an evil, world domination-bent Viamontian, and the race have their own all new weapons and armour. Like Asheron’s Call 2: Legions, the level cap has been raised, and dedicated players can enhance their skill levels more than ever before.

Gameplay is changed by the introduction of augmentation gems, which you can use to increase your character’s storage or combat abilities. In addition to this there are dozens of new quests and creature, and hundreds of new items, including the all-new ‘Rare Items’. All this means that players will be rewarded for their diligent exploration of the revamped world of Dereth, which includes an all-new archipelago to the north. All previous Asheron’s Call episodic expansions are also included. So now two MMORPG classics have been updated, both Asheron’s Call and Asheron’s Call 2. We owe a debt of thanks to the new franchise guardians Codemasters!
