Summary

One of LucasArts' biggest Star Wars releases in the last 20 years, 2003's Galaxies presented players with a colossal game world that spanned literally hundreds of kilometres of terrain and dozens of epic space-based conflicts in a truly enormous online experience. A year on, the SOE-developed Jump to Lightspeed, a stand-alone expansion pack of sorts, is finally ready to add itself to a bustling Star Wars portfolio.

Jump to Lightspeed, almost as big as its predecessor in size, brings with it some ten new and distinct space sectors that should satisfy MMORPG players and Star Wars fans alike. And expanding the online struggle between good and evil even more so are 100 fresh missions that allow players to partake as two brand new races in up to four new professions. Furthermore, there's an even bigger selection of custom star ships to tinker with.

Once again, gameplay takes place on both the ground and in space as players struggle for survival against literally thousands of players from all over the world. You'll meet, greet and battle in any number of well known locations such as the Core Worlds and Outer Rim, and you may well bump into several named characters and locales from the Star Wars Trilogy itself.

The beauty of Jump to Lightspeed is that it not only offers communal place for avid Star Wars fans to meet, it also combines the original trilogy with fresh, new content of its own. Furthermore, LucasArts has promised to deliver further patches and downloadable content.

The world of Star Wars will never become a tiresome place, and with to many players and so much support, we hope to see the Galaxies game world thrive for many years to come.
