Summary

Acclaim's latest sci-fi shooter comes from Russian developer Burut. Subtitled (at least according to the box) First Person Shooter, that is indeed what the game is, set in a fictional 30th Century, during a time when the human race is suffering something of a crisis.

You take on the role of a Legionnaire - one of the most highly trained and dangerous warriors of third millennium. As the story has it, you, along with a small team, suddenly find your trade ship "Aspero" transported to a kind of space-like Bermuda Triangle, from which many spacecraft have disappeared and few have escaped. An atmosphere of hopelessness ensues, as you find your connection with the outer world broken and nothing but a cemetery of old and destroyed spaceships around you. Then comes a sudden attack from the obligatory aliens.

Obviously, you know what to expect - the game thrusts you into a (quite beautifully rendered) futuristic world, in which the general way of doing things more often than not requires the trigger-happy shooting of a wide range of super-powered weapons, including rocket launchers, grenades, assault rifles and flame-throwers. There are a fair few objectives that you must overcome, from blasting through hordes of enemies to the more stealthier tasks like bypassing security systems.

As you would expect from such a game, multiplayer gaming is fully supported, allowing you to take part in a variety of skirmishes with friends over a LAN or the Internet. Most notable too in Kreed's case is the fact that the number of players supported is limited only by bandwidth, so you can look forward to battles on quite a grand scale - which is always a treat.
