Summary

THQ has held the Hot Wheels video game license for many years now, and year on year the company has managed to deliver games that are not only faithful to the real-life series of toys, but that also bring a certain style of gameplay that can only be achieved in the world of interactive entertainment. Next up is Stunt Track Challenge.

Boasting a diverse range of cars, circuits, stunts and playing modes, Stunt Track Challenge basically pits players in a racing league that depends just as much on stunts as it does driving skill, and here's why...

In a similar fashion to Burnout, the player must, while racing, execute a series of stunts in order to fill a speed boost meter that will then send them rocketing down the circuit and hopefully into the lead. Of course, the same applies to your opponents, making the main game something of a challenge, but it's a good idea that's well implemented.

The life of Stunt Track Challenge spans some six gravity-defying locations that play host to 13 playable Hot Wheels vehicles and five solid game modes that comprise of Game Show, Test Track, Quick Race, Checkpoint Challenge and Stunt School. Of the five, Game Show and Stunt School are perhaps the most compelling. The latter mode acts as a kind of tutorial that sets players various challenges, teaching new stunts in the progress. Game Show is a loose story mode of sorts that wraps up your racing shenanigans into a kind of glamorous event. It's nothing special, but entertaining nonetheless.

All told, there's little to complain about here. It's a quirky little racer with a difference and we're sure you'll love it.
