Summary

When Sony developed Eyetoy for PlayStation 2 in 2003, it brought with it a whole plethora of new gaming possibilities that were quite unique with respect to video games. The company's own Play, Groove and Singstar games demonstrated just what the USB camera and console were capable of, and now third party developers are starting to bring their own Eyetoy efforts to consumers the world over. Sega's very own Sega Superstars is one such title.

A mini game extravaganza that revisits a great number of famous characters and games from the Sega universe, Superstars sees players partaking in some 12 brand new motion-sensored games set in several familiar locales. Collecting bananas in the Super Monkey Ball world is one of the most memorable games, but players can also go toe-to-toe with Akira of Virtua Fighter fame, guide Sonic the Hedgehog through a series of bonus stages, catch eggs with Billy Hatcher, or even shake to the rhythm in Samba de Amigo.

The camera itself does a fine job of giving its audience an accurate gaming experience, and there's enough variety to warrant entire nights of camera fun with a group of friends. There's plenty of familiarity that avid Sega fans and loyalists will appreciate, and like all other Sega games, Superstars has that distinct Sega looks and feel.

We've no doubt that whoever has the privilege of playing Sega's first Eyetoy offering will enjoy it thoroughly. Expect more from Sega and Eyetoy in the coming years.
