Summary

It seems strange that Sony would place such an odd couple of games together. Nevertheless, you can't argue with two great games in one PSX package, can you?

Polyphony's Gran Turismo was a monster of a game, the perfect arcade racer, with a huge number of tracks and cars. Added to that was the option to tune your car for better handling and performance. Performance that you could see and handling that you could feel... it was the perfect race game for those too impatient to play a sim style F1 game. Its sequel is very similar, but it's bigger... a lot bigger. More cars, more tracks, more races, more options, more license tests. The handling remains accurate and the AI is as unforgiving as ever. Those daunting two-hour endurance races make an (un)welcome return too. It's a worthy sequel to a frankly brilliant game.

Motor Toon GP is somewhat more comical. More akin to the likes of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? than The Fast and the Furious, this Sony racer employed Mario Kart-esque gameplay to attract its players. It did this very well and is perhaps one of the most competitive games around for the old platform. Cars and tracks were unique, anything but bland, and that made it one of the most entertaining and visually pleasing games around, especially for kids.

Another great twin pack for the old console, then.
