Acclaims Burnout games have proved themselves popular with the industry for providing a new slant on the racing genre and delivering some genuinely tense racing moments. The company is set to continue this successful approach in a brand new racer called Speed Kings, produced by UK developer Climax.
Perhaps one of the most extreme biking games weve this side of 2000, Speed Kings pits players in an over-the-top racer across 12 well known street locations across the globe. Races take place in London, Hamburg and Las Vegas to mention but a few, and each and every environment is littered with destructible objects and heavy and unpredictable traffic. The circuits are indeed hazardous, but its a crucial aspect of the games play mechanic.
By racing dangerously close to nearby vehicles, players can build a Powerband that, when full, gives players a temporary speed boost, pushing them ever closer to the finish line. Players can also execute a number of tricks such as handstands and wheelies to build the Powerband meter. There is a risk involved, and players lose stability when performing stunts and tricks but it can push you up the ranks considerably. Its your call.
There are 22 bikes based on real world models, eight modes of play, including five multi-player options, realistic crash sequences, Burnout-style, and even real-time damage. Speed Kings is undoubtedly a comprehensive game that will take quite a long time to finish, and even after that, youre free to return for a little arcade style racing. Its Burnout on two wheels, basically.
