Summary

Now here's an interesting spin on the management genre. Almost a fleshed out version of games such as Pizza Connection, only more extensive and more in depth, Nobilis' Restaurant Empire, developed by Enlight, is the latest and perhaps most unusual concept we've seen for a Tycoon game for quite a while.

You begin your restaurant empire with just a few thousand in spare cash and a passion for food, which is really all you need. Within Restaurant Empire there are three culinary locales, populated with eager stomachs and even bigger wallets, and you'll be given a choice of five distinct cuisines, 30 hot-tempered chefs and some 200 recipes.

You'll be responsible for menus, decor, staffing and the overall maintenance of your new-found empire. Inevitably there will be a few teething problems and you must often focus on specific areas to keep your business afloat. The more practice you get, the more skilled you become, the more money you earn. It's a formula typical to the genre but it works extremely well.

But there is one more thing you need to think about, and that your competition - you're not the only restaurant in town. You'll need to employ sound tactics and strategies to take-over your competitors and consequently steal their customers.

Rendered in full 3D splendour and with low system requirements to boot, Restaurant Empire is a fine looking game that, like so many other tycoon games, is thoroughly playable, and with good reason.
