Summary
Vegas - every gambler's dream. What better way to partake in your favourite pastime of needlessly throwing away money than the glitz and glamour of America's 24-hour party in the desert? One suggestion would be to be on the other side of the maximum-security cash desk and watch the money rolling into your very own casino but, obviously, that's beyond the means of most people. Which is where Vega$: Make it Big comes in - giving players the chance to devise, build and manage their own casino, right in the heart of the world's gambling capital.
The game starts with you starting your own hotel casino at the lower end of the famous Vegas Strip. From here, the task at hand is to work your way up to the swankier top end and cash in on all the big spenders. Success demands that all possible punters are targeted, from the old dear who occasionally flutters on the one-arm bandits to the serious big players. At the end of the day, it's all about getting the chips on the table and the coins in the slots - how you go about it is up to you.
There are a total of 10 hotel themes from which to build your mini empire. Once the structure is sorted, it's then time to kit it out with your own gambling combination of roulette, craps, black jack and slots, as well as to garnish it with an assortment of other attractions such as cabaret acts, magic shows, street entertainers, and buffets. Once you've finished, you can then take a little time to explore the place for yourself, as well as have a little snoop at what the public is doing, playing and, most importantly, spending.
As in the real world, there are a number of factors to take into consideration when running your business - one such issue is that of keeping an eye on your opponents. You have to make sure you remain competitive by keeping up with the attractions and undercutting them in the right areas. You also have the option of either running a straight hotel or one with a more open mind with regard to cheating - but obviously make sure you don't get caught.
The ultimate challenge in Vega$: Make it Big is to keep an eye out for the holy grail of casinos - the big spenders. These are few and far between, but if you can attract one to your hotel, then you could stand to make millions. Unfortunately, there's also a chance you could lose millions too. Such is life...
