Summary

Disciples II: Dark Prophecy, like its predecessor, is a turn-based role-playing game that pits four races - the Empire, the Mountain Clans, the Legions of the Damned and the Undead Hordes - against each other in a battle for control of the Sacred Lands.

The strategy-based game takes place approximately a decade after the Great Wars fought in the original Disciples. You begin the game by selecting one of four races, each with its own campaigns and unique quests. In some respects, it's four games in one. Once chosen, you will need to select a lord who will lead your party in battle and who will grant your party certain abilities - an overseer.

Your lengthy, action-filled adventure begins from your capital city. Depending on preference, you can begin one of many single-mission quests or a series of multi-mission sagas that contain a variety of objectives. Gameplay, like many RPGs, is turn-based. Each turn consists of entering into combat, developing your capital city, acquiring resources and casting spells. Unlike the first Disciples, Dark Prophecy includes an event system that will affect your party depending on decisions made throughout the game.

In Dark Prophecy, survival depends on controlling territory and acquiring resources. The goal is to transform the land to reflect your God's influence. In doing so, you may occupy neutral ground, plant magical rods in enemy terrain, or deploy units to slowly erode the enemy's economy. The challenge lies in obtaining your resources, as you must first conquer the land in which they are hidden before you can put them to use.

Both leaders and frontline units must be nurtured in battle so that they can move forward through multiple levels of progression. Once you have completed a saga, you have the opportunity to take one leader to the next chapter and begin to rebuild your party once again.

The original Disciples was widely praised as the best turn-based RPS game of that year. Disciples II: Dark Prophecy will immerse you into the fantasy world of the Sacred Lands where you will once again battle for the destiny of your God. The prophecy will be revealed and the consequences could be dire. Strategic gameplay and wise choices may be your only salvation when the Dark Prophecy emerges.

Ooh, interesting - watch out, evil forces of darkness and doom are about!
