For fans of the pop princess herself or merely for those of you who want to be able to watch Britney jigging around whilst on the move, Britneys Dance Beat is now available for the Game Boy Advance.
With a simultaneous release date and pretty much following the same format as the PS2 version, Britneys Dance Beat on the GBA features the familiar rhythm/action idea of games like PaRappa the Rapper, Dance Dance Revolution et al, fusing it with some of the popsters most popular hits.
In search of dancers for her upcoming tour, Britney wants you to audition. In order to do this, button sequences must be faithfully followed to the tempo of tunes such as Baby One More Time and Oops! I Did It Again. As the music plays, a hand rotates around a clock face, passing the button symbols in time with the beat. Hit the right buttons at the right time to make Britney burn up the dance floor - miss and watch her stumble around gracelessly. Successfully progressing through the stages unlocks photos, artwork, puzzle games and a full, one-minute FMV movie clip.
Technically, this game is very impressive for the GBA hardware. All the songs are there and, although not the original CD versions, have been accurately recreated with the use of MIDI and the odd vocal sample.
If, like the majority of the target demographic, youre a pre-teen, female, loyal fan of the pop sensation then this is an ideal addition to your GBA cartridge collection. If, like the remainder of the target demographic, youre a middle-aged bloke, you might want to consider investing in a Game Boy Advance.
