Summary

JoWood has teamed up with developer Fishtank Games to bring us SWINE, a kind of spoof real-time strategy game for PC. Think of it as a ‘porked’ up version of Hogs of War, but without the Worms-style gameplay and you can’t go far wrong.

If you really want the full, bizarre story, here goes. On August 3, the Pig National Army has crossed the border into CarrotLand, and has begun an invasion. Rabbit Capital is under heavy attack and you are their only hope! Now, that’s funny.

But under all of the mickey-taking antics lies a strangely compelling RTS game. Fishtank Games has focused on the psychology of the opposition and teaches the player to use tactics that will outwit the enemy at every corner. You will learn how to defeat large armies with just a small team. Intelligence is the key to conquering the game of SWINE.

Thankfully, RTS games are finally entering the 3D arena and SWINE is a fine example is this, utilising a high quality modelling system that helps to make the comedic world of CarrotLand far more interesting and immersive.

There is a great deal of progress to be made in SWINE, with many single-player missions and a whole range of multi-player modes comprising of Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Destroy the Base. Varied terrain and weather conditions help to make the battles a little more interesting and far less predictable, making for a hugely entertaining and playable experience.

It’s a great RTS game in itself, and the humour and crude jokes just make the whole thing even better.
